My AutobiographyJomar T. Banatao
Before my story in this world began, the story of my parents came first. My mother and father had their own dreams, struggles, and life experiences before they met. When my mother was only twenty years old, she decided to work in Tuguegarao City to help support her family and build a better future. She left our home in Cauayan City and stayed there to seek employment. Living in a new place was not easy for her because she had to adjust to a different environment, job, and the people she encountered every day. After approximately five weeks, an unexpected opportunity came into her life—meeting my father. At that time, my father worked as a truck driver, a difficult yet honorable profession that helped support his family. During their first meeting, they never imagined that they would become an important part of each other's lives. As time passed, they gradually got to know one another, developed a strong friendship, and eventually entered into a meaningful relationship that marked the beginning of their love story. As their relationship grew stronger, my mother introduced my father to her parents. Later on, they shared important news with my mother's family—that she was pregnant and I was slowly growing in her womb. Although they felt both excitement and nervousness, this moment marked the beginning of greater responsibility for my parents. On July 14, 2005, I was born as the fruit of their love, hard work, and sacrifices. That day marked the beginning of my own life journey. When I turned one year old, we traveled to Tuguegarao City for my baptism, an important occasion filled with gratitude and happiness for our family. I completed my elementary education from Grade 1 to Grade 6 at Cauayan South Central School, where I learned fundamental knowledge, built friendships, and experienced both the joys and challenges of being a student. During Grade 4, I underwent an important experience that became a significant milestone in my growth and development. When I entered Grade 7 at Cauayan City National High School, I encountered greater academic challenges and responsibilities. The subjects became more difficult, but I remained determined to continue my studies and pursue my dreams. During Grade 8, I experienced my first romantic relationship. Although it ended painfully and taught me difficult lessons about love and friendship, it also helped me mature emotionally. In Grade 9, I became more focused on my studies and worked harder to improve my academic performance, hoping to earn recognition through perseverance and determination. Amid our family's journey, my father faced a serious health challenge after being rushed to the hospital because of severe high blood pressure. According to the doctors, his condition was critical and his chances of survival were uncertain. He relied on oxygen support to stay alive, which caused great fear and sadness within our family. Eventually, our family experienced the deep sorrow brought by the painful loss of a loved one. Although accepting this reality was extremely difficult, we chose to remain strong and continue moving forward despite the grief. Despite these hardships, I became more motivated to study because I wanted to fulfill my father's dream of seeing me graduate. When I reached Grade 10, my hard work paid off as I received several academic awards and recognitions. Upon entering Grade 11, I met someone unexpected who became an important part of my life. She accepted me despite my weaknesses and supported my dreams and ambitions. As our relationship grew stronger, I introduced her to my family on December 31, 2023. Although I was introduced to her family as well, I was not accepted. Even though this deeply hurt me, it became an important lesson about love, acceptance, and the realities of life. When I reached Grade 12, I became even more determined because I was nearing graduation from Senior High School. Through hard work and perseverance, I became an NC II passer and graduated with distinction and High Honors. After graduating, I searched for work to support my personal needs before entering college. During this time, I worked in different jobs, including house cleaning, construction work, and serving as a gas station attendant. These experiences taught me the importance of responsibility, patience, and hard work. When I entered my first year of college at Isabela State University, I chose to pursue a degree in Information Technology because I wanted to expand my knowledge of technology and improve my skills in creating websites and modern systems. I believed that this course would help prepare me for a better future. After completing my first year, I was proud to say that I passed all my subjects without failure, proving that my dedication and perseverance had paid off. At present, I am now a second-year college student facing even greater academic challenges as the lessons become more demanding. Despite this, I continue striving to do my best and avoid failure while working toward my goals. Recently, during our midyear classes, our sessions officially began on the second day with a schedule from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Our teacher first discussed the lessons, after which we proceeded to the laboratory room to complete assigned activities. One of our tasks involved creating an HTML project where we learned how to build a simple website. Fortunately, we successfully completed the project and received a perfect score, which motivated us to work even harder in our studies.
